TEMPAX (borosilicate glass) is a colorless, transparent glass with a heat resistance temperature of 500℃.

Because of its high heat resistance and transparency, it is used for viewing windows, optical components, restaurant bake tops, light shades, and other applications where liquids and pressure are applied. Because it is resistant to rapid temperature changes, it can be safely used in high-temperature environments.

We also offer reinforcing and drilling processes. Please feel free to consult us about even complicated drilling processes, as we will manufacture them based on drawings and in cooperation with the customer's perception.

Heat resistant glass with a heat resistance temperature of 500℃

TEMPAX is a heat-resistant glass (borosilicate glass) manufactured by a German specialty glass manufacturer (Schott).

It contains more boric acid than ordinary glass, resulting in a lower coefficient of thermal expansion, and has excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, and permeability. This glass is suitable for a maximum operating temperature of 500℃ and a normal operating temperature of 450℃.

Since it does not break even when exposed to high heat, it can be safely used in places where heat and fire are handled, such as viewing windows, optical components, restaurant baking areas, and lighting shades exposed to liquids and pressure.

In addition to its excellent heat resistance, TEMPAX (borosilicate glass) is also characterized by its high transmission.

While float glass has a slight greenish tint, Tempax is nearly colorless and transparent, allowing the color of objects to be clearly seen even through glass.

Tempering process is possible

Tempax can be “tempered”.

Tempax tempered glass is 3.5 to 4 times stronger than regular Tempax, making it more resistant to breakage.

In addition, when regular TEMPAX is broken, the fragments are sharp and dangerous like blades, but with tempered TEMPAX, even if it should break, the fragments will be granular, so there is less risk of injury and it is safer.

Improved thermal shock resistance temperature and pressure resistance strength

Tempering Tempax increases its thermal shock resistance temperature from 175℃ to 250℃ and doubles its pressure resistance strength.

It can be used for machine windows, vacuum chambers, etc. that are subject to heat and pressure.

What is a thermal shock temperature?

When glass is exposed to heat or water, a sudden change in temperature occurs at the surface of the glass. The temperature difference (temperature change) that can be withstood at this time is called the thermal shock resistance temperature.

About Size

26 Standard Sizes / For Research, Physics and Chemistry, and Experiments

We have 26 kinds of standard heat-resistant glass (TEMPAX) available for purchase.

We offer 13 types of square glass plates (rectangular and square) and 13 types of round glass plates (round and circular).

Because of the lower price and faster delivery than custom sizes, we receive many orders for glass sheets for laboratory equipment, research, and physical/chemical use.

In addition to heat resistant glass (TEMPAX), we also sell standard float glass (soda glass) and tempered glass.
